OUR FINAL DAILY LONDON NEWSLETTER:  I promise this is the final one. I can’t keep up the rate of writing and you can’t keep taking the time to read.

TWO OF LONDON’S FINEST HAM IT UP FOR THE CROWD

imageOne is the World’s fastest 100m  & 200m runner and the other is the gold medalist of the 5000m & 10 000m.  Both Usain Bolt and Mo Farah won two individual gold medals and thrilled the 80 000 spectators in the stadium.  While the IOC president doesn’t enjoy the wild celebrations of USAIN BOLT, I personally love to see athletes show a bit of their personality and get the crowd pumped up.  Usain came into the games as one of the known superstars but Mo Farah was not nearly as widely known around the world.  The Brit had moved to USA to train with legendary coach Alberto Salazar and American runner Galen Rupp.  Coming back home to win the 5000m & 10 000m track races in front of 80 000 wildly cheering fans will be one of the highlights for many track fans.   There is a special magic required to be able to win in front of the world, and still have the personality and capacity to entertain a crowd of 80 000 people at the same time.   Usain & Mo are two examples of men who have been able to blend athletic world class performance with a high entertainment factor.

LONDON CLOSING OUT IN STYLE

imageSometimes in life you have to get lucky and the London 2012 Organizers were both very lucky (great weather, the big superstar athletes like Michael Phelps & Usain Bolt all won major races) and you have to have some
great well executed planning (London did this well). Transportation was on time and efficient. Volunteers were extremely well trained and friendly. Facilities were clean, easy to get to and held great energy and spirit. Later today the final closing ceremonies will occur and bring the 17 days of the London Olympics to a very successful closure. London will set many records like most people to watch an Olympics (live and on TV & Internet). As the only country that has hosted the Summer Olympic Games 3 times, London definitely have made third time the charm. I have nothing but great admiration and respect for the London 2012 Games Organizes. Canada did an incredible job two years ago when we hosted the Winter Games. As amazing as our games were, they were much smaller in size. Canada hosted roughly 30 countries, 3500 athletes, 7000 media and 20 000 volunteers. London on the other hand will have 12 000+ athletes, 25 000 media and 70 000 volunteers Each time your size goes up (venues, athletes, spectators) you have additional new problems. In my opinion, London pretty much has hit a homerun and should be praised tonight by out-going IOC. President Jacque Rogue when he makes his final speech and extinguishes the Olympic Flame.
