BARRIE SHEPLEY'S OPENING DAY LONDON OLYMPIC NEWSLETTER
LET THE GAMES BEGIN
Later today, after nearly a decade of planning and hard, work Great Britain will host the Olympic Games for the third time in its history (the first country to do so). The 1908 Games were actually suppose to be in Rome, but because of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, the Italian Government backed out of their commitment and England agreed to host the 1908 Games. While over 200+ countries will be in London this week, only 22 countries competed in the 1908 Games and England easily defeated the USA for the overall gold medal standings. England was scheduled to host the 1944 Summer Olympics, but the games were cancelled due to World War II. Four years later, England did host the games for the 2nd time. Fifty-nine countries made it to the 1948 Olympic Games (with Japan and Germany being asked to stay away for security reasons). Finally later today, after spending nearly $14 billion, London will GET THIS PARTY STARTED. Having been to London many times, its amazing how the Olympic Games have transformed the broken down east side of London. What had been old, broken down factories and buildings, are now incredible new sporting facilities, housing for 15 000 people (which will be sold after the Olympic Games end).
BARRIE SHEPLEY'S LONDON UPDATES DAY T-1 ITS JUST ABOUT SHOW TIME
You cannot even imagine the number of moving parts that exist in the final day before the Olympic Games Open. Team Management are trying to solve dozens of problems of missing uniforms, rooms that are missing blankets and equipment that hasn't made it to London. One of my friends who is working in team management just got her luggage today (but she arrived on Monday). Every single team, sport and country will have dozens of problems over the 3 weeks, its the team with the best problem solving skills that will win this battle.
For many years, the coaches at Personal Best have had great respect for the team at Running Free. As such PB has recommended RF to hundreds of our clients. The owners are great to deal with and the staff is knowledgeable about proper fittings for shoes, activity clothing and training accessories.
As such, we are very pleased to announce that Personal Best and Running Free have entered into a partnership agreement to work more closely together.
"Our philosopy, goals to promote activity for all, and community outreach programs dove-tail nicely, it will be a treat to work more closely with Running Free on several upcoming projects" (Personal Best Co-Owner Sheldon Persad).
